Success is something that we all strive for in life, but not everyone is willing to work for it. It is not something that is just handed to you, instead, you have to earn it. Conner Light says there are a lot of things that have contributed to his success.
“I have had to do a lot in order to be successful,” he said. “Dedication, my drive to be great at football, and the true love I have day in and day out for football. Sometimes I am exhausted but you have to fight through it if you want to be great.”
Light is a senior at Charles Page High School. He plays a strong safety outside linebacker hybrid position for the Sandite football team. He first began playing football when he was five years old.
Throughout his career, there have been people that have had an influence on Conner’s life, but he says that there are a few people that have made the biggest impact.
“My biggest role model is my dad,” he said. “He has a great work ethic in everything he does for people. Another would be Peyton Manning. I always loved how much of a leader he was and how so many people looked up to him and wanted just even a sliver of his confidence passion and just an overall amazing man. Derrick Morrow is my history teacher. He would teach so well and play guitar while we worked, and he would tell us stories about football. He would also physically teach us so well, I learned so much in his class.”
While there have been a lot of people that have helped him get to where he is today, Conner has put in a lot of work of his own.
“It has taken a lot of work to get where I am,” he said. “There has been a lot of weight lifting to become a better football player. I will always work and dedicate my life to my dreams. I love to be challenged, I wouldn’t play football if I didn’t want to have so much pressure on me to create thick skin and train myself for the future and to be a better man.”
