VYPE: What are your personal goals this year and how is the season going?
Gina: My personal goals this season are to honestly just have fun. I would love to score better than I ever have, but if I can enjoy each tournament then I’d say it’s a successful season. So far this season I am on the right track and will continue to forget the bad shots and have fun.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Gina: The most fun I’ve had this past year in relation to golf is playing on a small, not very well-kept course in Texas. My dad and I play every year and the salty air and warm weather makes up for the slight frustrations that golf can definitely bring at times.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade or coach and why?
Gina: My favorite teacher is my seventh-grade geography and LAFS teacher, Coy Caviness. He made such an impact on every student that walked in his room and found a way to make each topic enjoyable. He always made me want to learn and focused on building a personal relationship with his students.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Gina: My favorite golf moment was my very first birdie during practice on our home course. My dad came and was walking with me as I played, giving me tips and advice and I’m really thankful he was there to witness that with me. It was an amazing experience that I’ll never forget
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Gina: The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me would be Meghan Charles, who graduated last year, because she was not only an extremely impressive golfer, but she possessed so much joy and could instantly brighten my day. No matter how I was doing that day Meg always was and still is a ray of sunshine and I will never forget the fun time we shared on the course.
VYPE: Who on your team has the best impression of your coach and who says the funniest things during games?
Gina: All of the girls that have been on the team through the years normally have a great relationship with coach and we love to joke around all the time. Madison Chambers constantly keeps me laughing and on my toes when we get to play together. She always knows when to say just the right thing that will get me laughing again.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Gina: I would definitely say Paris because that is a place I’ve always been in love with and wanted to visit. I would take both of my older sisters because they are adventurous and love to travel so they would be up to try anything. There is no doubt we would have a great time.
VYPE: If we gave you 500 dollars and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?
Gina: If I had to spend 500 dollars in the next 24 hours, I would definitely put it towards college!
VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.
Gina: I want to thank my mom for always being my biggest cheerleader in all that I do, my dad for being my coach for everything, and my sisters and meme and papa for always being there to give me a hug no matter the circumstances. My best friends are always cheering me on, even if they don’t know what every term means. Lastly, I also want to thank God for bringing these amazing people in my life and blessing me with the opportunity and ability to be involved in sports.
