VYPE: How did your season turn out and what goals did you have?
Abbi: This season (2022-2023) is my first official year of being a Varsity Cheerleader. I have built lasting friendships and bonds with my teammates. My biggest goal is to share the 1st Place title at Nationals with my cheer sisters and brothers.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Abbi: The Highway 97 rivalry game at Sapulpa was my first time cheering at a Varsity game. I will never forget the fun of getting ready and cheering with all of my teammates. The best part, though, is being able to be a part of a team- or rather a second family.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Abbi: Mrs. Heather Miller was my sophomore English teacher. She brought such a positive and welcoming presence into the classroom every single day. I aspire to be as happy with my career as she is.
VYPE: Who do you look up to and why?
Abbi: I look up to my mom. Since I was little it had always just been me and her. My dad was never the best role model, so she took on the role of playing mom and dad. She works so hard to put a smile on my brother’s and my face. She pushes me to be the best I can be.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Abbi: Aydan Roper has left the biggest impact on me. He works so hard for everything he does. He is motivated and strives to be the best. Aydan brings both seriousness and humor into our cheer gym. The cheer program would not be the same without him.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Abbi: I enjoy getting to bond with people, who I wouldn’t have been able to if it weren’t for cheer. I enjoy building friendships and sharing common interests with my teammates.
VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?
Abbi: Since I was little I always struggled with making friends. In 3rd grade, my mom put me in the Jenks youth cheer program. I hated it at first, then I realized that I actually really enjoyed the sidelines and getting to talk to people my age. My love for it grew, especially when I had coaches like Coach K, who made me love it even more.
VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.
Abbi: I want to say thank you to Coach K. She has played a major role in my life. She believes in all of us and always motivates us to do our best. She showers all of us with love, even though we may seem ungrateful sometimes. We appreciate all of her time and dedication that she gives this team. Thank you Coach K. I love you so much!
