Q&A with Sand Springs’ Evyn Morrow – Presented by Hometown Insurance – Beau Wilson Agency

VYPE: What goals do you have for this year?
Evyn Morrow: My goals for this season is to play to the best of my ability while encouraging and pushing my teammates to their best. I also want to set an example for my younger teammates to constantly be encouraging and humble to others.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Evyn Morrow: Volleyball has taught me a lot on and off the court. It has taught me how to work and cooperate with others. It also taught me how important hard work and confidence in your skills can lead you to success

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Evyn Morrow: My favorite Teacher would probably be Mrs.Graves at Charles Page High School. She was my Geometry teacher last year. She also Coaches Volleyball at the middle school. She is always cheerful and excited to teach and influences many kids daily. My favorite thing she does is Karaoke Fridays where she goes around in the halls between classes to sing and dance with kids in the halls!

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Evyn Morrow: Many people have inspired me through volleyball. Coaches and teammates mainly. It’s hard to be inspired by someone you’ve never met because you don’t know their story. It’s easier to be inspired by people you’ve played with and grown a connection with. My teammates inspire me everyday with little things they do. Hannah Mckelvey always knows when I’m in my head and knows how to lift me up. Patience Pearce knows how to put a smile on people’s faces constantly. Katie Hendricks is a hard worker and always pushes herself to be the best. These traits constantly inspire me to be a better player and
teammate.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Evyn Morrow: Many teammates have left impressions on me though soccer and volleyball. But one that comes to mind is one of my old teammates, Charley Fahland. She taught me many things in the two years I played with her, like how to dive and move my feet but most importantly she set an example of work ethic and energy on and off the court that I strive to have everyday.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Evyn Morrow: My favorite part about being on a team is growing a second family through sports. For the past six years I have seen the same seven girls everyday at practice, games, or even just hanging out. I trust and value everyone I play with and I’m so glad I built so many friendships through volleyball.

VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete? Explain.
Evyn Morrow: This question is really hard for me because my family is well rounded with athletes. My Mom excelled in basketball while my dad played many sports growing up and both are still very athletic. My little sister plays soccer and recently went to nationals. Overall my family has always excelled in sports so it would be hard to choose one.

VYPE: What’s one sport you wish you could play that you don’t already play?
Evyn Morrow: I grew up playing many sports so there’s not many i’d say I wish I still did besides racing dirtbikes. My dad raced all the time when I was younger so I would spend a lot of time on the tracks. My Dad got me into Racing when I was six years old and I stuck with it until I was 13. Then my love for volleyball and soccer grew, but I still ride every now and then.

VYPE: What’s your go-to pregame song?
Evyn Morrow: I don’t normally listen to music before games but me and my teammates do play Just Dance, the video game. We look up the dances on youtube and pretend we’re actually playing it. Me and my teammates play Just Dance before practice, scrimmages, and games to help us get warmed up while having fun. I have many videos of silly dances we’ve made this season already. Please spell your first and last name and school.
