Sand Springs High school’s Sarah Turner – Cheer Spotlight – Presented by William Jordan – Farmers Insurance

Charles Page High School junior Sarah Turner knew she would be a cheerleader growing up. Despite trying other sports, Turner said cheer was always her favorite.

“I have done track and powerlifting, but Cheer has always been my favorite sport since it’s so well-rounded with team bonding, challenges, growth, and opportunities,” said Turner.

Now a member of the varsity squad at Sand Springs, Turner said she has enjoyed the varsity experience and is excited for the new season.

“Something I’ve enjoyed about being on the cheer team is the friendships I’ve made and being a part of something greater than myself and getting to represent my school. Having another family is something I didn’t know I needed but I am so grateful for along with getting to compete and getting a sense of accomplishment. For this upcoming season I’m most excited for Friday night lights, along with the assembly’s, competitions, but most importantly getting closer to my teammates and coach,” said Turner.

As a student-athlete Turner is involved in more than just cheer. Turner is a member of the National Honor Society and HOSA.

“Charles Page High School is a great place to be a student-athlete because the coaches provide support, encouragement, and empowerment towards athletes and help them work towards their goals,” Turner said. “My favorite subject in school is English and my favorite teacher so far was Ms. Brice because she saw the maturity and confidence when I didn’t see it in myself. She supported me when I was new to the school district.”

Turner said this year’s group is uniquely different, but somehow, they all fit together and have formed a bond like a family. Turner wants the Class of 2025 to be remembered for exceeding all expectations.

“I want our class to be remembered as the team who hit zero at nationals and had a great experience and exceeded their exceptions. I also would like to be remembered as a unified team and work through adversity together and become stronger as a result,” said Turner.

After high school, Turner would like to attend college and study health sciences and eventually enroll in a nursing program.
