Sand Springs’ Mason Harris – Wrestling Spotlight – Presented by Inkwell Printing

Mason Harris

Charles Page High School

When you think of Charles Page High School wrestling, several names come to mind. Fix, Karstetter, Weir, Pennington, Sanders, Phillips, and the list goes on. One wrestler looking to add his name to that list is senior Mason Harris.

Harris is currently ranked No. 2 at heavyweight in Class 6A. As a team the Sandites are ranked No. 8 overall. Harris said he loves representing his school.

“I love how supportive the community and the faculty are of the athletes,” said Harris.

The senior has wrestled for four years now and loves the discipline it takes to be a wrestler who wins matches. That discipline is what he loves most about his team and teammates.

“I love how fun they can be but also how disciplined they are. The team is coming together extremely well, we have an incredibly strong brotherhood between us,” said Harris.

The goal for the team is a dual state title, but as individuals, each wrestler wants to make the state tournament at the Big House.

“The goal is the same as it is every year: become the state champion,” said Harris.

As a student at Charles Page High School, Harris said he is focused on being the best student he can be and is looking forward to having the opportunity to attend college.

“My favorite subject is history, and I don’t have a favorite teacher because I have been blessed with really good teachers. I would like to go to college for an engineering degree and hopefully play a collegiate level sport,” said Harris.

Also a member of National Honor Society, Harris said he enjoys reading books and playing video games.

Harris said he is excited to see how good this team can be this season.

With other ranked wrestlers like Kase Skaggs who is ranked No. 5 at 113-pounds, David Ritchey, ranked No. 8 at 126-pounds, Jayden Pait, ranked No. 6 at 132-pounds, Jesse Moore, ranked No. 6 at 144-pounds, Jaxon Trotter, ranked No. 4 at 157-pounds, and Hudson Sheppard, ranked No. 7 at 175-pounds, the Sandites are poised for a great season under the leadership of head coach Tyson Bowling.
