Golf is a sport that becomes a way of life for many players. Depending on the weather in Oklahoma, a player can get a round in nearly any time of the year. Charles Page High School’s Braysen Zickefoose enters his junior season with another year of experience and a summer that included a lot of golf.
“What I’ve worked on the most is my full swing,” said Zickefoose. “Our team is looking good for next season.”
Like other high school teams, you compete against your teammates first, before taking to the course and competing against other schools. It’s something Zickefoose and his teammates enjoy.
“What I love most about being a golfer at CPHS is I get to practice with my teammates every day,” said Zickefoose.
The junior has only golfed for two years, but he is hopeful the hard work starts to pay off. His best round was a low 80s, which is good enough to place in a lot of tournaments and possibly compete in the state tournament next spring.
“My best tournament round was an 82 at Rock Creek Golf Course, but my favorite course to play is The Canyons at Blackjack Ridge,” said Zickefoose.
Zickefoose said the Sapulpa tournament is another one his favorite events on the calendar. The future Class of 2026 graduate said he is making plans for life after high school.
“I would like to continue my education in college,” said Zickefoose.
Where is to be determined.
Look for Braysen and the Sandites to have a solid season under head coach Matt Webb.
