Sand Springs’ Jason Clark – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Eric Davidson State Farm

Jason Clark says that he has had a lot of influences throughout his life, but he acknowledges that there are a few who have made the biggest impact.

“My parents have been my biggest role models,” he said. “They do everything they can to help our family. I definitely would not be the person that I am today without them. Another person would be my favorite teacher, Derek Morrow. He is always in a great mood and is a very caring teacher.”

Clark is a senior at Charles Page High School, where he plays point guard as a member of the basketball team. He started playing basketball when he was in the first grade and still loves the game all these years later.

Jason has put in a lot of work over the years to help himself grow as an athlete and as a person. He says that he has advice for anyone who wants to be their best.

“Most importantly, you have to take every practice seriously,” he stated. “You also have to be consistent with putting in your work and practicing.”

The Sandites head basketball coach, Eric Savage, says that Clark is a great player who will play a big part in the team’s success this season.

“Jason is a high-energy player who consistently makes plays on both ends of the floor,” the coach said. “This year’s team will rely heavily on him since he is the lone returning starter from last year.”

Throughout his career, Jason has made a lot of great memories with his teammates, both on and off the court. But out of all of those memories, there is one that stands out as his favorite.

“Making it to the state tournament my sophomore year was great,” he said. “Even though we lost in the first round, it gave us a lot of experience.”

Along with playing sports, Jason is also a member of the National Honor Society.
