Charles Page High School’s Ty Pennington has enjoyed a great senior year and looks to cap it off with a great year on the diamond.
Head coach Matt Brown gave Pennington high marks as a player and a leader.
“Ty is a three-year starter at first base also a three-year starter at quarterback on the football team. He is our leader and hardest worker,” said Brown.
We convinced Pennington to take a break long enough to answer a few questions just before the season got underway.
VYPE: Ty, everyone knows you for football, but how long have you been playing baseball?
Pennington: I’m a senior now and have been playing baseball since I was five.
VYPE: What do your teammates on this Sandite baseball team mean to you?
Pennington: My teammates mean everything to me, and they are why I play my hardest because I don’t want to let them down.
VYPE: What is the best thing about being a student-athlete at Charles Page High School?
Pennington: I love being able to represent my school as an athlete and as a student to show how great of a community we have here. All of our teachers and coaches want the best for us and have molded all of us to be the best possible versions of ourselves.
VYPE: What do you enjoy doing when you have some free time?
Pennington: I like hanging out with friends, playing golf, and I love fishing.
