It’s an exciting time to be a Lady Sandite fan. Head coach Joshua Berry returns one of the top players in the state and a ton of experience. “This group was a few points from state last season and returns four starters and eight players with playoff experience,” said coach Berry. Journey Armstead (5-9, Sr.) averaged 18 points, 5.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals last season as a junior. During her career she has over 1,000 points and was All-Conference, and All-VYPE. Layne Kirkendoll (6-2, Sr.) is another player to watch for Charles Page this season. Kirkendoll averaged 6.0 points and 6.0 rebounds with 2.0 blocks per contest. She is a great athlete who is coming into her own as a player. Hayley Jackson (5-11, Jr.) is a combo player who averaged 10 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.9 steals a game. Jackson has all the tools to be one of the top players in Oklahoma. Sakauri Wilson (5-5, So.) is a young guard who averaged 6.0 points and 3.0 steals as a freshman. Mar’leyshia Morris (5-8, Sr.) and Taionna Morris (5-7, So.) are two players to watch this season. Both have excellent skills and will contribute to the team’s overall success. Expectations are growing for this squad coming into the new season. Look for this team to be exciting to watch as they look to make a major splash in Class 6A.
