Growing up in Sand Springs, Charles Page High School softball player Carlee Brewer has spent a decade in the circle learning how to balance fun, competition and the pressure that comes with being a pitcher. For her, it starts with the people around her. “I love how close our team is. Everyone is always very supportive. We can have fun together, but we also know how to lock in and compete when it’s time. Several of us have played together since we were young and have a strong bond.”
That tight-knit atmosphere has helped shape the way Brewer approaches the game and her role on varsity. She leans on the example set at home, crediting her mother for the way she carries herself on and off the field. “My mom inspires me because she always works hard and puts others before herself. No matter what’s going on, she always supports me and pushes me to do my best.”
Brewer has played softball for 10 years and understands the mental grind that comes with pitching at a high level. “I have played softball for 10 years. As a pitcher, I think the hardest part is staying confident and moving on from mistakes because you have to keep competing no matter what happened on the last pitch. I feel like a strength I have in the mound is pushing forward & not showing negative emotions on the mound.” That mindset carries into summer, where she stays busy with travel ball, competing in multiple states while still making time for family and friends. “My summer has consisted of travel softball, playing in many different states such as Colorado, Indiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and spending time with my family and friends.”
Representing her hometown is a responsibility she embraces. “I’ve grown up in this community, so it means a lot to represent Sand Springs, and I take that very seriously. It’s special getting to play for a school and town that have always supported me.”
She prides herself on being a steady presence in the dugout. “I think one of the biggest strengths of my game is staying positive and being there for my teammates no matter how I’m playing. I try to keep everyone’s energy up and be someone my teammates can count on.”
Looking ahead, Brewer plans to continue her softball journey at the next level. “After I graduate, I plan to attend college and continue playing softball while earning a business degree and preparing for my future career.”
