Charles Page High School senior Addie Ray brings versatility, consistency and a team-first mindset to the Lady Sandites volleyball program.
Ray is playing both setter and right side this season, roles that demand communication, decision-making and adaptability during every point.
“I’m playing setter and right side this season. The most difficult part is balancing all of the different responsibilities that come with those positions and staying consistent, especially when things don’t go exactly as planned.”
The challenge fits Ray’s approach to the game. Whether she is setting up teammates or contributing on the right side, she values the dependable people around her and the confidence that comes from playing connected volleyball.
“Currently, Autry Odell and Ellie Sartin have also made a big impact on me. They keep me grounded with their steady presence in the front and back row. I know I can count on them, and having teammates who stay composed and dependable helps bring confidence to the entire team.”
Ray’s support system extends well beyond the court. She credits her parents for encouraging her to pursue her goals in athletics, academics and life.
“My parents inspire me the most. They have always encouraged me to chase my goals and dreams, whether that is in volleyball, school, or what I want to do in the future. They have taught me the importance of working hard and staying committed to the things that are important to me.”
Away from indoor volleyball, Ray is a member of the American Indian Student Association and competes in beach volleyball, a sport that has become central to her future. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of Tampa to play beach volleyball, study psychology and eventually pursue law school.
Her volleyball journey also includes the influence of family. Ray enjoys watching younger sisters Ava and Hudsyn develop their own love for the sport, adding another meaningful connection to a game that has shaped her high school career.
