One of the wrestlers to watch this season for Sand Springs is Ethan Norton. Norton has been called the “unsung hero” of the Sandite wrestling team. Doing all the little things that helps the team as a whole is important to Norton. Head coach Jarrod Patterson has several of his wrestlers working to make the state wrestling tournament next month.
We caught up with Norton before the regular season came to an end.
VYPE: Ethan, what do you love about being a wrestler at Charles Page High School?
Norton: I love that my teammates always have my back and always won’t the best for me.
VYPE: In the classroom, do you have a favorite subject or a favorite teacher?
Norton: My favorite subject is math. My favorite teacher is Mrs. Baker.
VYPE: Who has been a big influence in your life, on or off the mat?
Norton: A big influence in my life is my dad. He has helped me develop all of the skills I have now. I look up to him because he is a hardworking man and will do anything for his family.
VYPE: What does it mean to you when you hear coach Patterson call you one of the unsung heroes of the team?
Norton: Being named the teams unsung hero has a lot of responsibility that I’m willing to take on. Having that responsibility means a lot to me.
