Throughout an athlete’s life, there are a number of people that influence them and help them along the way. While many look up to professional athletes that compete in the same sport that they do, Gabe Glenn says that the people that have had the biggest impact on him are much closer to home.
“My parents are my biggest role models,” he said. “They have taught me and showed me what it really means to give everything you have to something you want. They have instilled it into our family that working hard is not an option. I would not be where I am or who I am today without them.”
Glenn is a senior at Charles Page High School, where he is a multisport athlete for the Sandites. He plays infield and third base for the baseball team, while on the football field, he plays defensive back. He has played football for a couple of seasons, but this will be his fourteenth season of playing baseball.
Along with the help and encouragement of others helping him, Gabe has put in a lot of work personally. He attributes his growth as an athlete to the hard work that he has done.
“It’s taken years of work on the field,” he said. “But for me, I especially worked hard in the weight room. I was always pretty skinny until the summer after my sophomore year when I basically started living in the weight room to better myself in every aspect of the game. And I feel like while I am seeing results, I am going to continue to work hard.”
During his years as a student at Charles Page, Glenn has received lessons from numerous teachers, but he says that out of all of them there is one teacher that made the biggest impact on him.
“My favorite teacher would have to be Mr. Morrow,” Gabe said. “He truly made the bad days good, and the good days better.”
Along with playing sports, Glenn is also a member of the National Honor Society.
